Getting Started
This quickstart walks a console user from zero to their first resource in a few minutes. If you plan to call the REST API directly instead, start with the API Overview.
kopernik.us gives you a single console to view and manage cloud resources across Akamai, AWS, and DigitalOcean. You connect your existing cloud provider accounts — kopernik.us never asks you to move your resources or change how they are billed.
Before you begin
You need an account with at least one supported cloud provider (Akamai, AWS, or DigitalOcean) and permission to create an access token there.
1. Create a token at your cloud provider
Create a Personal Access Token (or, for AWS, an access key) in your provider’s console. Grant it the least-permissive access that still covers what you want to do — read-only is enough to browse resources.
The token must be able to read account identity information, because kopernik.us uses the provider account ID to build stable resource identifiers.
2. Connect the account
Open the Accounts page in the console and click Add. Choose your provider and register the token (Akamai and DigitalOcean also support OAuth). kopernik.us exchanges your provider credential for a scoped authentication token — it never stores your provider credentials on the server.
Once connected, the account appears in the Accounts table. Give it a short Alias and a color so its resources are easy to spot. See the Accounts guide for details.
3. View and create your first resource
With an account connected you can browse resources by type — machines, volumes, firewalls, VPCs, and more. Pick a resource type from the console navigation to list what already exists in your cloud accounts, then use the toolbar to create a new one.
Every resource type has a matching guide under Console Guides, for example:
Where to go next
- Console users: browse the Console Guides for each resource type.
- API users: read the API Overview, then the API Guides and API Reference.
- Review the Terms of Use before you rely on the service.
