Firewalls

The Firewalls page helps you view and manage firewalls in the console.

What are Firewalls?

Firewalls are network security rules that control inbound and outbound traffic for your resources. Each firewall defines rules by protocol, ports, and peers (e.g. IP ranges or other resources). Firewalls can be attached to machines or other resources depending on the provider. The console presents them in a unified way across clouds.

Firewalls are backed by:

View Firewalls

The Firewalls table lists all firewalls from your registered cloud accounts, with their attributes displayed in table columns. Use pagination controls at the bottom of the page to navigate between pages if there are too many firewalls to display.

When table data is being updated, table rows are displayed in italic, and table controls become inactive. It may take time to load the next portion of data.

To refresh the table, use the Reload 🔄 button.

To customize attributes displayed in the table, use the Layout ⠇ button.

When there are too many firewalls available, use the Add filters 🔎 button to fine-tune your search. See the Resource Filter documentation for details.

The following Firewall attributes are available:

Creating a new firewall

To create a new firewall, click Create in the toolbar. You will be taken to the Create Firewall page to define inbound and outbound rules. This action is disabled when the selected account does not have Admin access.

To delete a Firewall, check the firewall’s selection box and click the Delete 🗑️ button. This action is disabled when the firewall is associated with an account that does not have Admin access.

The delete action may take time. Its status and progress are available on the Actions page.
